Description

If green should turn to grey
Would our hearts still bloody beat
If a mountain tumbled away, river dried
Would it stop the stepping feet

Whoa, let us sleep outside tonight
Lay down in our mother's arms
For here we can rest safely

- Dave Matthews

If you knew that the world was going to change forever, how would you capture it for those who came after you?

Ok, bear with me on this:
frame: Altoids tin I stole from my husband's car. I sanded, painted, and all around fucked up.
glass: I stole some glass from a picture frame on my desk. My husband is now used to there being no glass on any of our pictures. I ran to the amazing stained glass place by my house to have one of the old grumpy guys grind the edges of the glass for me. I can cut it, I just dont have a grinder. :( I painted some grass and vines on it and soldered it to the tin.
scene: the background collage is from my very first collage I did a few years ago. I cut it and destressed it and decoupaged it into the tin. The sun is made from an old bottle cap I flattened, and the clock face is from the lovely :iconjenniferohcious: cause she's awesome. The clouds are made from a doily I got at a thrift store, where the old lady who sold it to me told me very sternly "someone spent a long time on this, dont just throw it in the closet."
The halo around the ballerina is a religious pendant I got from a nurse when I was having major surgery when I was 19. I no longer need it :) The roses are from an antique I bought at a thrift store this summer. I pulled the roses out of the little (probably lead) basket and to my pleasant surprise there was all this moss I could use. It took HOURS to pull the roses apart without them falling apart. (Imagine how brittle 30-year-old roses are) You can see the basket in this picture: [link] its labeled as 11.
Some other doodads I had laying around my workshop.
The ballerina is from an AWFUL belt my husband's grandmother made (sorry honey, but its busted) for my mother-in-law. My MIL thought I could do something with her, and here she is.
outside:
The buttons are from that aforementioned belt and from a little box I found in the attic when we moved into this house. The golden twig is from a necklace I bought for my wedding until the day before the wedding, my husband found an amazing crystal necklace in his parent's garage. You can see it in this pic : [link]
The egg's nest is made from pearls from my husband's grandparent's pearl farm and some moss from the basket.
The back is also from an old collage and some snippets from an antique mythology book I use for all my altered art pieces. The lace is from an old doll's dress my mom made.
The ribbon is from my sewing kit and is used on all my plushies.
That's aboot it.
For sale (if I can handle to part with it) in my shop at

10% of my proceeds go to helping orphans in China.
The rest will probably go to getting my husband a new hat because if I have to hear about how he cant find his old one anymore Im going to have a psychotic episode.
On a personal note, while I worked on the back of this, my son did this to my leg:
